City Centre Airport Reality Check: Envision Edmonton
Thursday, July 29, 2010
A group called Envision Edmonton is attempting to gather signatures to force a vote on the City Centre Airport this October. But who are Envision Edmonton?
States Govind Pillai, VP External: "Who is funding Envision Edmonton's $500,000 campaign? Disclose your donor list. When you ask Edmontonians to sign documents to force an expensive plebiscite, you should fully disclose who is behind your campaign. Â Are these campaign donors all from Edmonton, or are they from organizations headquartered elsewhere? How much did each donor give to reignite this closed issue and do they have private planes?"
Jason Roth, Director of Advocacy, agrees: "It's odd that Envision Edmonton states that they are an organization that is funded by 'many' individuals and businesses that have 'no direct investment in or association with the CCA,' yet many of their board members are from aviation related organizations that are tied to the CCA."

The NAIT Students' Association has been an Edmonton institution since 1964. NAIT serves over 80,000 students per year, and over 75% of our graduates stay in Edmonton to live and work. We want to ensure that Edmonton, the city that our students graduate into, is strong, vibrant and sustainable. Because of this vision we want to see the City Centre Airport closed. This will allow for a consolidated and expanded NAIT campus, a broader tax base, and a more sustainable Edmonton.
