The Inuktitut word for Snowy Owl, the Ook is a popular Inuit small toy with a large head and big eyes and tiny black claws or talons. Originally made from wolf or sealskin.

At NAIT everyone is an Ook. Our mascot was presented to us in 1964 by the Federal Department of Northern Affairs and Natural Resources, now called Indian and Northern Affairs Canada. Every sports team at NAIT are Ooks.

The current Ook blue plush toy was designed by President Brent Constantin in 2008. They can be bought for $5 at NAITSA.
