Shinerama’s primary focus is to generate revenue for the Cystic Fibrosis Canada through innovative fundraising ideas. I was nominated in 2011 to be a campaign advisor and I have since been nominated to be the associate regional director of Alberta. In 2011 I was the assistant coach of the team.

This past year I have served as your Vice President Academic I have been working hard to ensure student success and that is why I want to be elected as your President. During my term as the Vice President Academic I have set up a new online service for students to submit their concerns right from the comfort of their home. This allows students easier communication channels with NAITSA. My main focus has been keeping my door open and helping students move forward in their educational careers. I have been involved with NAITSA since 2009; and have a great knowledge of what your students’ association does and I want to strive to make student life easier.

 As your President I will,

• Keep my door open policy going – Come talk to me anytime for advice, problems, or just to chat.

• Satellite campus involvement – Souch and Patricia campuses are part of NAIT; I plan to include them

• Student representation with NAIT – I will be involved with NAIT committees so ensure the student voice is heard

• Focus on key issues effecting students – I want to bring this issues to light and work on creative and helpful solutions

I am an upbeat, positive, and a determined person who would be honored to continue representing the student body. I believe honesty is the best policy. I am committed to working with the student body in an effective, collaborative, and constructive manner.

Executive Council Vice President Elect
Jackie Albert
VP Academic-Elect
Jackie Albert

Hey NAIT! My name is Jackie Albert, and I am asking for your vote in the 2012/2013 Executive Council Elections, from February 10-16th! Vote Jackie Albert for VP Academic.

For the past three years I have been elected, by you, to the Senate and as a result I have built many strong relationships with a lot of very important and influential people here at NAIT. In my past years working for you, the students, as a part of NAITSA’s Student Government, I have learnt the requests and desires from students are just as diverse as they are! That’s why what I want, is what YOU want. That’s why I do what I do, and why I love doing it!

Everyone knows college can be stressful. That’s why I want your vote for VP Academic. I have been in your shoes. I have spoken to so many students in your shoes, and built lasting relations with them. I am very personable and outgoing, and many people on campus know who I am. I know how to get things done. This will make me an asset to the NAITSA Executive, and will help me work with you to solve your challenges and grievances, and give NAIT the best campus culture for students.

Imagine a college, where students, staff, other faculty and your Students’ Association all work together to help you achieve your goals. Imagine a faculty full of passionate instructors, whose primary concern was YOU, the student. To make sure YOU got the best possible education, not just in the classroom. All of these things are possible if you vote JACKIE ALBERT FOR VP ACADEMIC.

If you’re going to vote for me, I want you to know who I am. I am a second year Instrumentation Engineering student, and I love to volunteer. For the past three years I have worked as a Frosh Leader, enabling me to meet so many amazing new people, and hopefully help every student make their transition into college a little easier and WAY more fun! I have also been involved with a variety of student clubs, including my program’s technical club, of which I am the President, as well as many other groups around campus. When I’m not busy volunteering or doing homework, I love to snowboard, Zumba, and play outside with my puppy, Hemi, who I adopted from the SPCA last December.

Students of NAIT, I want to represent YOU. I want to get to know YOU. If you see me in the halls, please stop and say Hello. I would love to meet you. I promise I willl make time to hear you out, and even more so, I promise to fight for what you want to see, to make your time at NAIT as amazing and stress free as possible!

So let’s get NAKED and vote ONLINE from February 10th to 16th, simply by visiting www.naitsa.ca and following the election link. Together, WE can make NAIT the best place for students to be!

Executive Council Vice President External Elect
Miranda Holman
VP External-Elect
Miranda Holman

 Hello NAIT students!

My name is Miranda Holman and I’m running for the position of Vice President External at NAITSA.

I’m currently serving as your Vice President Student Services and am in my 3rd year of the Bachelor of Business Administration Human Resources degree.

I was the Campaign Director for Shinerama 2011 at NAITSA. This year, I will move on to the role of Campaign Advisor for the Shinerama National Team. I will have the opportunity to mentor the 2012 coordinators and help them achieve campaign success. Shinerama is Canada’s largest post-secondary fundraiser that has over 65 post-secondary campuses participating. Its primary focus is to generate revenue for Cystic Fibrosis Canada through various fundraising initiatives.

As Vice President External I plan on working closely with NAIT to continue to provide solutions and results for all students. For example, we as students believe that post secondary education should be reasonably priced and non-academic fees should be regulated. When it comes to these and other important issues, I will advocate on your behalf to ensure your best interests are on the minds of NAIT administration and the provincial government.

NAITSA has come a long way in terms of satellite campus inclusion, but there’s still more work to be done. Last year, I made it a priority to visit Souch and Patricia campuses at least once a month to speak with students and offer them an event. In my new role, I will continue to visit our satellite campuses regularly to ensure their voices are heard.

Main campus is of course equally important when it comes to addressing the needs of students. For example, when you identified that The Nest was in dire need of improvement, NAITSA took action. I’m excited to be part of the team that will make The Nest renovation a reality for September 2012. I look forward to hearing more ideas for campus improvement.

NAITSA is committed to student advocacy and has made significant advancements in the past few years. Help ensure we continue to move in the right direction - vote for Miranda Holman, Vice President External in the upcoming NAITSA election February 10-16!

Executive Council Vice President Student Services Elect
Jonathan Bilodeau
VP Student Services-Elect
Jonathan Bilodeau

Hey! My name is Jon and I want to be your VP Student Services. If you don’t know what that is let me give you a brief summary. The VP represents the student body on campus life issues and collaborates with NAIT Student Life and Athletics. Basically the position is in charge of the events and activities that go on at NAIT. However I think that the position is deeper than that. I believe that the VP holds the culture of NAIT in their hands. It is for this reason that the person who maintains this title be ready and willing to serve both the school and the students to make sure that the culture at NAIT is remarkable. I believe that I can make this school the best that it can be. I also hope that you will come to see this as well.

Let me introduce myself. I have played sports since the age of six, currently I study accounting (fun I know) at NAIT, and I am hoping to attain a MBA in the future. Also I have been a manager at every job that I have worked at since the age of 18. I have operated jewellery stores, cell phone kiosks, even youth groups. Currently I am a bartender/manager/server at BP’s, so trust that I know how to deliver a good time.

Now, let’s get down to the real stuff. As VP Student Services I would like to focus on a few different areas. The first of these is to support the student population. I would like to help both new first year students, as well as mature students in their transition to NAIT. Also, through the increased use of events, mixers, and parties many different opportunities for networking and building relationships can arise. I want to make sure that when any student comes to NAIT they feel welcomed regardless of the barriers they may face. I also would like to support more initiatives such as the Women in Technology Program. By finding programs that promote equality and diversity, NAIT’s culture will become more dynamic. Additionally I would like to focus on the athletes at NAIT. There is both a long history of excellence, and current NAIT pride surrounding our athletic teams. This being said I would like to increase team promotion and athlete recognition. The next areas in which I hope to focus on is helping the international and transfer students, by providing support and help wherever I can. Finally I would like to help all of those students who wish to participate in NAIT culture, whether it is through volunteering, clubs, or whichever way you are a part of NAIT life.

All of these goals in my opinion will bolster NAIT, but I also want to hear from all of you and make this a school that you can be proud of. So remember to vote from Feb 10-16 and please make sure to put a check beside my name, Jonathan Bilodeau. Cheers.
